Tax Technician - Dallas Location

Job Requirements:

Education: A bachelor’s degree is not required, but a degree in accounting or finance would certainly be helpful.

Licensing: This position does not require the individual to be a licensed CPA, nor is the expectation that the individual would need to pursue licensing.

Experience: While not required, experience or knowledge of nonprofit organizations as well as bookkeeping or tax return preparation experience would be beneficial.

Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel are required and, while not required, experience using CCH ProSystem fx Tax and CCH Axcess software would be beneficial.

Personal Skills: The ideal candidate will have excellent skills in the following areas: written and oral communication; attention to detail; and organization.

Remote Work Opportunities: The firm currently utilizes a hybrid work schedule, which provides our employees the ability to work both in-office and remotely on a firm-designated schedule.

 

Job Description: 

For the candidate who meets the criteria provided in the above job requirements, we will provide the necessary training to equip you to perform the following duties in this role:

  • Preparation of basic correspondence to the IRS/taxing authorities
  • Preparation of basic Forms 990
  • Preparation of other types of basic returns such as DR-405 TPP returns, DR-5 Sales Tax Exemption applications, and others as identified
  • Assistance with client communications to collect information needed for tax return/project preparation
  • Other administrative items to assist tax preparers in return preparation (e.g., data entry in tax software, extension preparation, etc.) as assigned by tax team leadership

We do not expect the individual hired for this position to have had experience or prior knowledge of the above responsibilities. An aptitude for learning and a genuine interest in receiving proper training is sufficient.
